Who's your favorite security chief?

To my knowledge, there was no security chief in the original series.

I'd say Odo, because he is very good at what he does, plus he has all those shapeshifting abilities. Second would be Worf and Reed.

I voted for Tuvok because he has been the best Vulcan since Spock....or he is so...Spock-like. T'Pol was really getting it this last season....alas. Why isn't there an expendable red shirted security guy from TOS on the list??? LOL

I picked Odo. The Shapeshifting thing really made him a badass. I just don't like Klingons, so I couldn't pick Worf, although he would be my second choice if I had to make one.

Well if we're talking over all security chief, I'd definately go with Odo. But for Starfleet security, Worf definately wins!

Well, I don't think there was a security chief on TOS. If I put all security personnel on the list, I wouldn't be able to list them all. There would be too many.

Also, if anyone is wondering, I didn't put Michael Eddington on the list, because he wasn't the security chief. Odo was.

And Major Hayes wasn't security. He was a MACO.

Well, I relly like Worf and Odo, but Malcolm is my favourite. Remember his look as he found out, that he had no wife in the alternative future? (Episode E:2)

Star Trek fans benevolent optimistic and incredibly intelligent."

Had to go with the Klingon...they are perfect security officers. :)
May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

Ok, I'll vote for Natasha for some very good reasons.
Survived her home planet (Remember her comment about the rape gangs?)
The only woman security officer Worf respected.
Could kick anybodys booty.
Gave Data a love interest.
Died in the line of duty (sortof).

Three chears for Natasha Yar    !!!

Worf. Odo was kind of fake with that shape shifting. Anyone can win if they can turn into anything. Worf was big, had that deep bass rumble, and didnt shy away from a fight. :klingon2:

Tuvok was my favourite.... He acted as so much more than just Security Cheif. The bond between him and Janeway was clearly grea,t and contributed towards his character

Partially, because in my opinon, controversional as it is..., Voyager was the 2nd best ST Series (ENT being 1st)...

Voyager brought me back to trek....and Malcom never came across as security cheif to me...

Odo, easy. He was the only dedicated Security Chief. Worf, Yar and Tuvok also had Tactical duties and were constantly allowing security breaches in closed enviornments, whereas Odo had an open intergalatic hub and almost always knew exactly what was going on where. That he was physically well-suited to his job doesn't make him "fake"

One of my favorite moments in DS9 comes after Worf arrives, and starts in on how Odo isn't doing his job, and then Odo lists all the security breaches that happened under Worf's watch on a military vessel. :D

I'd say Tuvok probably comes in second in the "effective" category, no doubt a partial by-product of his own double agent experience, but the others were sad excuses.

EXACTLY!! And remember, he wasn't ALWAYS a shape shifter when doing his job.

I always wondered why they never split this position on the Ent-D. After all the tactical rail was big enough to accomodate two officers. During red-alert status one could be 100% dedicated to tactical (firing torpedoes and phasers, in charge of shields, coordinating with other ships, etc.) and the other one 100% dedicated to internal security matters (intruder alert, crew evacuations, repair/medical team coordination).

I went for Malcom.

Because in previous American TV series and films the British are portrayed as snobby rich Phloxs but Reed is anything but.

He just rocks! How does that saying go? "Balls Of British Steel!" :D
